Following the enormous success of its production of A Midsummer Night's Dream, the Dohnányi Orchestra Budafok has prepared a grandiose new performance to celebrate the Shakespeare Season. The programme takes excerpts from Shakespeare comedies as well as music inspired by his works to create an entertaining evening of musical theatre. Artist of the Nation Péter Blaskó will play a range of Shakespeare roles, including Prospero from The Tempest, the duke from Measure for Measure, Leonato in Much Ado About Nothing, and Leontes in Winter's Tale, that are sure to transport the audience back to the age of Shakespeare. From his own fantasy, the actor is able to conjure up the romantic figures created by the bard, who was able to create countless characters and dramatic situations in which entire generations come into conflict. The scenes will be framed by excerpts of music by Wagner, Mendelssohn, Korngold, Weber, Berlioz, Patrick Doyle, Schubert, Cole Porter, Sullivan, Morley, Goldmark, Orbán György and Verdi, all with a connection to Shakespeare's comedies.
